CHARACTER NAME: Ombra Birth date: August 23, 16 Gender: Female Pack: Lone until packs are created Species: Undead Alquilan Magic Index: Magic Index 3 Fur Colors: Black, Grey, White Height and Weight: 28 In 7.5 lb Appearance: Illusory self: Ombra was once a very pretty, sleek young Alquilan with soft light blue eyes. Her build was slight, but well muscled with long legs for her size and a long feathery tail. She became undead at only a year old, so some of her proportions are still a bit off. Her taloned feet are large for her size and her long legs look a bit gangly despite her elegant gait. She has a pair of average sized functional feathered wings that fade from jet black at her shoulders to white at the tips of her outer feathers. Her coat is black down her back, shoulders, feet, and muzzle. Her neck, backs of ears, top of muzzle, and underside are white with different shades of grey everywhere else. True Self:When she decides to show her true self, Ombra is simply a skeleton wiith glowing light blue orbs in place of eyes. Her proportions are the same as her original yearling self, but most are unlikely to see much beyond the eyes that can't show emotion anymore. Her once majestic wings are just bone remnants of their former glory, but somehow still function becuase of the magic that has kept her alive all these years. Personality: While showing her illusory self, Ombra is a wolf that wants to be around others. She spends her time getting to know one or two wolves well, learning about what makes them tick. She does this simply becuase she can and hopes to find a friend that may be willing to be a friend for however long this life of hers may be. She mostly follows the social norms, but has a hard time with heirarchy when it comes to being submissive to any wolf other than the alpha and beta of the packs she has been in. After the first few lifetimes, she grew tired of being treated like a half grown pup that she happens to look like. She treats those who are physically older than her with respect, but does not appreciate being bossed by an average member of the pack. Generally, she only shows her true skeletal form around those she trusts with her life or those she wants to scare the life out of. If she has to fight, she will usually drop her illusion and use the enemy's surprise to her advantage to get in at least one good bite in before they react. If she is seen in her skeletal form by accident, she generally tries to scare the other creature away unless they are a fellow undead. She unwittingly purpetuates the fear of undead that many wolves have in her desire to only seen as the wolf she used to be. The special gem that is the center of her being is hidden in her skull behind and between her eye sockets. Magic Description: Ombra learned the illusion spell young, making little lights that she and other pups in the den played with. She used it so often and pushed her illusions further wit every picture she created. At only 6 months old she was able to make small creatures apear for short periods of time. She only discovered after her siblings grew old and died that she could use this ability to hide her undead body and look like her original self. Dead Again is a spell that she learned of at a young age from an old wolf that was a mostly normal looking black wolf, but with a exposed skull for a face with bright glowing orbs for eyes. Having become adept with magic through her use of Illusion, she tried to cast it on a mouse once the old wolf was gone and it backfired, killing her instead. She has not attempted to cast it yet, but is not completely opposed to doing so. History: As a pup, Ombra had a fascination with magic, but only caught on to the Illusion spell. Her favoraite passtime was making little balls of light flash, then try to pounce on them before they disappeared. As she grew, magic took a fairly mundane place in her life. She would conjure still pictures of prey to practice sneaking up on or use a flash of light to make prey look in a direction other than the hunting party she was with. This fairly quiet life she lived lasted until just after her first year ended when a strange wolf approached her while she was out hunting. He was a creepy looking but kind creature who claimed to have been around for several lifetimes longer than any other wolf around. He taught her about the spell that made him immortal as far as he was concered. He demonstrated it to her on several small creatures and told her about the stone that rested in his chest that allowedd him to keeo on living as long it it stayed intact. After many days of this training, he asked if she wanted to try the spell herself. When she refused, a bit scared to actually do so, he simply stopped coming to visit her. After about a week of not seeing the strange wolf, curiosity got the best of the young wolf and she tried the dead again spell on a mouse she had just killed. Something went wrong though and the spell backfired, leaving the pretty yearling on the ground, dead as the mouse she had tried to bring back. The strange black wolf had not left her completely. He showed up, cast the spell to bring her back, then disappeared again, leaving her to believe that her failed attempt was the reason she has lived to be two thousand years old. She went about her life, not realizing what had happened until she got a bad gash during a hunt that bled only congealed bad blood. Undead were not a common occurrence, so nobody in her pack knew what was going on. Some reacted with fear, others tried to help and stop the oozing. Despite the efforts of the few who weren't scared, it didn't stop until most of the blood in her body was just gone, but she still felt fine. After days the wound started to rot, making even the stronger stomached wolves start avoiding her. Even the prey could smell her coming after awhile and she eventually stopped after realizing she never really felt hungry anymore. Little by little, she lost her body, spraping it off bit by bit and at points she went a bit crazy, tearing off chunks of flesh and constantly scratching at any bit that clung to her face. Eventually, she tried to just give up and let scavengers pick off the remaining dried bits until she was just a still skeleton. During this time, she lashed out at any wolf that came near her, not wanting to see the fear in their eyes that came with seeing a living corpse. Only after about 50 years of chasing away every living being did she start to feel a deep lonliness and desire to interact with another living being. she tried once or twice with no illusion (and failed) before she remembered her past illusion ability. After a few tries and a lot of digging through memories of reflections in puddles and the lake, she was able to recreate her old form, if only for short periods. She was able to join a couple of packs over the years, but only until they realized she never grew out of her yearling body and didn't age. Usually, she would leave at this point, avoiding any questions and wouldn't return to the area until the youngest pup to have met her was long dead. She repeated this process, eventually studying the wolves as time went on, learning more and more about what they liked, what they were scared of, what made them sad, and just everything. To this day, she still floats from place to place with no known purpose in life other than learning about others. OOC Name: Iqniq |
